=============================================== RockboxUtility Development Version 1.4.1-bootloader_ipod6g-ps8 http://gerrit.rockbox.org/r/#/c/1221/8 =============================================== This build of RockboxUtility.exe is patched to support the installation/ uninstallation of a dual-bootloader on iPod Classic 6G. Needs a local bootloader file (bootloader-ipod6g.ipod) located in the same folder as RockboxUtility.exe See prerequisites section on README.mk6gboot.txt before installing the bootloader for the first time. To operate dual firmware, see README.mk6gboot.txt (Dual-Boot section). Known issues: - While installing/uninstalling the bootloader, do not close the progress dialog using the close window button (top-right), use the 'Abort' button to do that. If the progress window is closed using top-right [X] button then the install/uninstall process continues on the background and anything could happen, close the whole RockboxUtility and relaunch it again. - Rockbox Utility detects when iTunes.exe is running and emits a warning requesting the user to close it, then iTunesHelper.exe is suspended (and resumed at the end of the bootloader installation process). If for any reason iTunesHelper.exe is running and the iPod enters DFU mode, you will see on your PC an Apple dialog asking for iPod repair and restore, CANCEL it, close iTunes, kill iTunesHelper.exe using the Task Manager, close Rockbox Utility, reboot the iPod and start again from the beginning. AFAIK all data is lost when the iPod is restored by iTunes. - When your iPod is running Rockbox FW and it is connected to the PC, iTunes might tell you that there is a new FW version (1.5) available, ignore it. For iTunes to work properly, the iPod must run Apple firmwre. - Some users are reporting failures when Configuration window is opened (Visual C++ Runtime Library error), ATM it is unknown what causes these issues and how to solve them, alternative options: a) do a 'manual' install using mk6gboot.exe, it is not so difficult, see README.mk6gboot.txt (Command line install section) for detailed instructions. Once the bootloader is installed, you can try the latest official Rockbox Utility to update Rockbox and themes. b) try on different computer and/or operating system.
